Privacy policy
Last updated: 13 October 2026
This privacy policy explains how Brid's Tanning & Beauty collects, uses and protects your personal information when you use our website, bridstanandbeauty.co.uk, or get in touch with us through it. We have written it in plain English. If anything is unclear, please contact us using the details at the end.
1. Who we are
Brid's Tanning & Beauty is a tanning and beauty salon at 48 Croydon Road, West Wickham, Kent BR4 9HU. The business is run by Brids Tanning & Beauty Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17137070), whose registered office is at Lodges Wood Oast, Goodley Stock Road, Westerham, Kent TN16 1TW.
We are the "controller" of the personal information described in this policy, which means we decide how and why it is used. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) under registration number [ICO registration number].
Our sister salon, Brid's Hair & Holistic (62 Croydon Road, West Wickham), has its own website and its own privacy policy.
2. The information we collect
When you send us a message
If you use the contact form on our website, we collect your name, email address, phone number (if you give it), your message and the page you sent it from. To protect the form from spam and abuse, we also record your IP address and basic details of your browser and device.
When you sign up to our newsletter
If you join our mailing list, we collect your email address, the page you signed up on, the date and your IP address.
When you book an appointment
Our "Book now" buttons open Treatwell, a separate online booking service, in a booking window on our page (or in a new tab). The booking window is loaded from Treatwell's servers when you click, so Treatwell receives your IP address and may use its own cookies. We do not collect your booking or payment details on this website. Treatwell collects the information you give it and shares the details of your booking with us so that we can provide your appointment. Treatwell's own privacy notice explains how it uses your information, and you can read it on the Treatwell website.
When you simply visit the website
Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information when pages are requested, such as your IP address, the date and time, the page requested and your browser type. This is used to keep the website running securely.
3. How we use your information and our lawful basis
UK data protection law says we must have a lawful basis for using your personal information. We use it:
- To reply to your enquiry and send you a short email confirming we have received your message. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in answering the questions people send us, or taking steps at your request before you book a treatment.
- To send you our newsletter with news and special offers. Our lawful basis is your consent. You can withdraw it at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any newsletter or by contacting us.
- To keep our website and forms secure, for example by limiting repeated submissions and blocking spam. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in protecting our website and the people who use it.
- To meet our legal obligations, for example if we are required to share information with a regulator or the police.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for automated decision-making or profiling.
4. Cookies and similar technologies
The public pages of our website do not set advertising or analytics cookies, and we do not track you across other websites.
- Fonts: our website uses Google Fonts. When a page loads, your browser connects to Google's servers to download the fonts, which means Google receives your IP address. Google's privacy policy explains how it handles this information.
- Staff login: a strictly necessary cookie is used only when our staff sign in to manage the website. It is not set for visitors.
- If we add analytics in future, we will ask for your permission with a cookie banner before any analytics cookies are used, remember your choice in your browser's local storage, and update this policy.
5. Who we share your information with
We only share your information with trusted service providers who help us run the website and reply to you, and only as much as they need:
- Website hosting: our web host, GoDaddy, which stores our website, its database and the messages and sign-ups sent through it.
- Email delivery: Resend, which sends our emails, including the confirmation email you receive after using the contact form.
- Website support: the developer who builds and maintains our website, who may see this information only when needed to keep the site working.
- Treatwell: when you choose to book online, you deal with Treatwell directly as explained above.
Some of these providers may store or process information outside the UK, for example in the United States. Where this happens, we make sure appropriate safeguards recognised by UK law are in place to protect your information.
Our website also links to other websites, such as Treatwell, Instagram, Facebook, the Brid's Rewards app and our sister salon. We are not responsible for how those websites handle your information, so please read their privacy policies.
6. How long we keep your information
- Contact form messages: up to 2 years after we last hear from you, then deleted.
- Newsletter sign-ups: until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you. After that we may keep a note of your email address so that we do not contact you again by mistake.
- Security records (such as IP addresses used to stop spam): kept for a short period and overwritten as new submissions come in.
- Server logs: kept by our hosting provider for a limited period, in line with its own policies.
7. Keeping your information safe
Our website uses a secure (HTTPS) connection, our admin area is password protected, and access to your information is limited to the people who need it. No website can be completely secure, but we take sensible steps to protect your information.
8. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
- ask us to delete your information;
- ask us to limit how we use your information;
- object to us using your information on the basis of our legitimate interests;
- ask us to transfer your information to you or to another organisation, in some circumstances;
- withdraw your consent at any time, for example by unsubscribing from our newsletter.
To use any of these rights, contact us using the details below. There is usually no charge, and we will reply within one month.
9. Children
Our website is not aimed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13 through it. Some of our treatments, such as sunbeds, are only available to adults aged 18 and over.
10. How to complain
If you are unhappy with how we have used your information, please contact us first so we can try to put things right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator:
Information Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF

11. Changes to this policy
